Die legendäre Band Bathory aus Schweden haben von 1983 bis 1988 sehr geilen Death Metal gemacht. Danach haben sie bescheuerten Viking-Metal gemacht. Überflüssig und doof. Bathory bestand hauptsächlich aus Quorthon, der leider 2004 mit 39 Jahren verstarb.

Bathory war Mitte der 1980er das Krasseste und Härteste, was es in Richtung satanischen Metal gab, nur noch vergleichbar ist Hellhammer. Possessed, Kreator, Destruction kamen dann 1985 raus.

Bathory haben seit 1984 insgesamt zwölf Alben gemacht, aber wichtig sind hier nur die ersten vier Alben. Ab 1990 kam nur noch Softie-Mist.
Die erste Veröffentlichung waren zwei Songs auf dem Scandinavian Metal Attack-Sampler von Januar 1984.
